MEET THE TEAM

JWB Marine Logo. Mobile yacht maintenance, repair and refit on the south coast and beyond

JWB Marine was founded on a simple idea...

...to provide boat owners with expert maintenance, repair, and refit services, delivered with James’ trademark friendly but no-nonsense style.

Big enough to tackle complex projects, yet small enough to give every client personal attention, the JWB Marine team combine decades of experience across mechanical and electrical work, rigging, electronics, and GRP repairs to keep your boat shipshape. Experienced boaters themselves, they know exactly what it takes to keep your boat ready to set sail, so you can focus on chasing the horizon rather than worrying about the winter maintenance schedule.

JAMES BOCK

James has been sailing for as long as he can remember, starting in Mirror dinghies and moving on to keelboats and yachts in club racing and deliveries. He began his professional career with FlexiSail (then SailTime) in 2010 and was promoted to Fleet Manager in 2012. Around the same time he started his own company, JWB Marine, working in the evenings and weekends. After six years managing FlexiSail's growing fleet, James moved to Keto Marine before taking his company full-time in 2024.

James will care for your yacht as much as you do. He’s not afraid to tell you if you've done something a little silly (always with good humour), and he’ll always go out of his way to offer advice or lend a hand when you need it.

Favourite cake: Prefers a pastry, to be honest

Make him a cuppa: Tea please! Milk and two, obviously...

TOBY WRIGHT

RYA Yachtmaster Ocean and Cruising Instructor

Toby started sailing at 18, teaching dinghy courses and working in watersports centres. He completed his Day Skipper and Advanced Power Boat qualifications early on and soon began racing and delivering yachts professionally.

He has sailed extensively across Australia, the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and has completed multiple Fastnet's and Atlantic crossings.

Back in the UK, Toby gained his Yachtmaster Ocean and Cruising Instructor qualifications, teaching racing and skippering corporate sailing events, before joining Discovery Yachts as Owner Care Manager. He then took over from James as Fleet Manager at FlexiSail, before becoming a full-time part of the JWB Marine crew. Toby has a passion for rigging, rope work and helping boat owners enjoy their time afloat.

Favourite cake: He's more of a savoury than sweet type.

Make him a cuppa: Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon, white, no sugar.

Dream boat: A Grand Soleil 50, although he also has a soft spot for Swan's...

Career highlight: Sailing alongside a pod of 300 (ish) dolphins on a yacht delivery from Darwin to Egypt.
